Kids are kids, and to be kids they have to play, to play they get dirty,
getting dirty means they had fun, when they have fun they are happy,
when they are happy I have done my job!"
Bella's Playhouse is a licensed full-time group childcare home. I first began providing care at Bella's Playhouse June 2007. I had been considering a return to childcare since the birth of my youngest daughter, allowing me to be home with her as I had with my older children (for 5 years). With a desire to again open my own childcare and prompted by several of my coworkers expressing the difficulty of obtaining quality childcare with flexible hours for early mornings and evenings, I did establish my program. I provide childcare services accommodating a variety of shifts. My program serves children from 6 weeks to 4 years full-time and school age children 5 years & older as contracted part-time or drop-in . My program is primarily supported by clients' private pay and in part by client via subsidy programs such as Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services and Saint Francis Community Services. The Child and Adult Food Program provides me with great resources and tools for serving nutritious meals and snacks. I am a contracted provider of all three organizations. As provider of Bella's Playhouse I strongly believe in the opportunities provided in outside resources. Bella's Playhouse partakes in services provided by Smart Start, such as Smart Start Childcare Home & Centers Enhancement Grant, Professional Materials Grant, Book Club, as well as the excellent ECE trainings and support they provide. Child Care Aware of Southwest Kansas also plays an important role in my program as my referral agency, and provider of themed activity bags available for monthly check out, resource room, and their ECE trainings and support. Regarding childhood growth and development as high priority. For support and resource I have turned to Russell Child Development and High Plains Education to assist myself, parents, and children in my care. Bella's Playhouse is also a member of Kansas Quality Rating and Improvement System. The childcare program has been rated three years annually now, currently rated as a 4 Star program. In June of 2011 I earned my National Child Development Associate credential. As a licensed provider I have served a year as a mentor in the Kansas Peer Mentoring Project through Family Conservancy. I am currently a member of NAFCC and NAECY. Most recently I have been chosen as one of the 2012 National Child Care Teacher Awards recipients through the Terri Lynne Lokoff Foundation in Philadelphia, PA. Quality childcare is not only my career but my passion and is ever growing, learning, and developing right alongside my children.
